Sony Computer Entertainment of America chief executive Jack Tretton has boldly stated that 2008 is the year when the PlayStation 3 will really take off.
Mr Tretton kicked off the E3 press conference in LA by saying that the company was “just getting started” and that the PS3 would improve this year thanks to it having “the biggest exclusives in the industry”.
Despite the PS3 not setting the world alight in its early days, Tretton pointed to the long-term lifecycles of the older PlayStation consoles and stated that the PS3 would follow this success over its ten-year plan.
He said: “The PlayStation brand is really hitting its stride, with a line-up that features the biggest exclusives in the industry.
“2008 is the year of PS3, but we’re just getting started. We’ve just begun to scratch the surface of what we plan to deliver ahead.”
